What if I told you that you don’t have to give your designer or developer your login information.
I’ve never been too keen on asking a client for their person admin information, it’s like an invasion of privacy in a way. In this post, we’re going to cover on how to allow your designer access to your blog without giving up your personal login.
Blogger:
I no longer design or code blogger template, but I do transfer them to WordPress. Which means I still need the same access as a designer would plus it’s fairly simple just click on Settings >> Basic >> + Authors then add the designers email address. Invite the user and you’re all done, the designer will receive an email.
Once they have done that (this is important), you’ll have to go back to settings>basic and choose ‘admin’ from the drop down menu next to their name instead of ‘author.’ If author is selected, the designer only has permission to write posts, not do anything behind the scenes!
WordPress:
First make sure that you’re are using a self-hosted WordPress site. This is an easy thing to do as well, on your panel (on the left) Users > Add New and enter in your designers email information. Make sure they’re set to administrator because as Blogger they will be unable to access your dashboard to upload your newly designed theme.
Squarespace
Now not many people knew there’s a contributor option in Squarespace where you can add users on the site in different roles. This is very simple to set up, just click on SETTINGS > PERMISSIONS
And there you have it, a safe way to allow someone access to your blog and/or website.
