What are plugins?
Plugins are ways to extend and add to the functionality that already exists in WordPress.
For an example, you want to control the spam that is received on your site. So you’ll need to add that functionality by using the Akismet plugin.
How do I install a plugin?
From your dashboard Plugins > Add New then search for a plugin using a keyword author or tag. You can also upload a plugin if not in the repository.
