Migrating to a new platform can be overwhelming especially when you don’t know the new platform well and features have different names from your old platform. So let’s get the that out of the way first.
ConvertKit | Keap |
---|---|
Broadcast | Broadcast |
Sequence | Campaign |
Automation | Automation |
Tag | Tag |
Segment | Saved Search |
Moving from Keap to ConvertKit or any platform for that matter is a manual process. Which mean you’ll need to be very organized prior to moving your stuff over. I’m sharing a copy of my the very blueprint that I use for migration customers into ConvertKit.
Please make sure to make a copy for your own Google Account.
So once you have everything in order you should have something that looks like this…
This is when you start moving over the content for your sequences. Remember this is a manual process… so if you have a lot of content in those emails you will be copying and pasting a lot. I recommend downloading the images instead of dragging them over. There’s this thing will Apple and remote images that causes them to not display properly. (so dumb).
The next tip is to copy and paste your actual link and here’s why… for some reason Keap blocks links in your emails when copying your text. The links will be changed to something along the lines of https://fea22.infusion-link.com/api/v1/79789 and they will lead to nowhere. So you need to click on the icon to grab that link then paste into the content.
Once all of your content has been moved over. The next step would be to move over your Subscribers. I do this prior to building Automations as you don’t want your subscribers to enter them. The clean up process is a lot of work if you import your subs last.
I like to use the tag Import: Keap as a entry reference. It’s so you know that’s where they came from. If you have a handful of tags you can export per tag. However, this is Keap we’re talking about and I know you have a bunch of tags and yes there’s an easier way to grab all your subs along with their tags.
When you match all of your custom fields together use Comma-separated list of tags to move all the tags at once. Make sure this matches the tags section of your CSV Keap file.
Feel like this is way too much manual work? We, agree and would love to help do this for you.
