What is a “Post”?
When using your site as just a blog post are content entries listed in reverse chronological order (as the homepage). Older posts are archived based on month and year and can be organized based on categories and tags. Post often encourages a conversation which can easily be done using the comments feature.
What is a “Page”?
Pages are meant to be static “one-off” type content such as your about page, privacy policy, legal disclaimers, etc. While the WordPress database stores the published date of the page, pages are timeless entities. They can also have assigned templates to them to create landing pages.
What is the difference between the two?
Post are based on date where Pages have none.
Posts can be categorized while Pages are hierarchical (sub-pages).
Posts are included in RSS feed vs. Pages are not part of your RSS feed.
Pages have custom template features such as landing page templates where Posts cannot be assigned a template.
